Good discussing, guys! Here's another question to contemplate:

'Shada' was originally a Four story, and later re-cast as an Eight story. How would a similar change (either of which Doctor was in the story or which Master or both) affect a Doctor/Master story of your choice?

I even have an example fic from the anon meme: Prey of the Cheetahs (which is Seven story 'Survival' as a Three story).

Because, comm, I love you all, and I had a terrible, awful idea about how to express this fondness.

Title: Anonymus mimema
Characters, Pairings(?): Theta(One?), Koschei, Theta(One?)/Koschei (preslash?)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 6,217
Summary: In which two perfectly respectable Time Lords go to a disreputable place and meet a disreputable personage. Horrifying crack ensues.
Warnings: Koschei curses like an indignant schoolmarm & so does Theta, tentacles, meta-fiction shenanigans, sudden POV shift, cross-species shenanigans, nagging & snarking, suspiciously Freudian/Jungian imagery, terrible ideas, OOC attacks, all these warnings and it’s still PG…where did I go wrong?
Disclaimer: The BBC owns Doctor Who and all its related characters.

Many thanks to my ever-patient and unshakeable beta, [livejournal.com profile] dragonofmemory!

Dare you go where Time Lords fear to tread? )

FIC: Hope

Title: Hope
Author: darklyenigmatic

Rating: PG
Spoilers: None
Summary: The last Doctor meets an early regeneration of the Master.
Characters: Other!Doctor (13), Other!Master (early regeneration)
Pairing: Implied Doctor/Master
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: Not mine, unfortunately. BBC owns them.
Word count: 759
Author’s Note: So it’s been 2 years since I’ve written any D/M. Or any DW fic. Or any fic at all, I think. Which is a very sad state of affairs, caused mainly, I think, by my lack of love for the last series. But now, apparently, I am positively awash with plot bunnies and fannish feelings, and who am I to deny such inspiration? As it is, this is a (very) belated continuation of my [livejournal.com profile] doctorwho_100 prompt responses, done for 001: Beginnings. It’s unbeta-d and not particularly wonderful, but hey, fic! And life from me :) More to follow soon, I hope. Comments are love, let me know what you think.

I am owning up to an anon meme fill, so I thought I'd crosspost here:

The Most Secret Diary
Rating: adult
(sex, some very minor violence.)
Characters: Three/Delgado!Master and Jo/Delgado!Master, Sergeant Benton
Wordcount: 3,300ish
Summary: From a prompt: The Doctor finds Jo's very secret diary in which she's written at length about how attractive she finds the Master. The Doctor tries to prevent any sort of romantic entanglements, and some threatening aliens get involved.
A/N: originally posted here for a prompt on the anonmeme.

fake cut to my journal )

I often don't crosspost anonmeme fills from my journal, since I figure people on b_e have probably already seen the fics. But if you're interested in the better formatted/edited versions, all of my anonmeme fics are under this tag on my journal.

Also! I have finally gathered all of my drabbles and comment fic from the various posts here, so those are also around if you're interested: here on teaspoon, or here on the AO3.

Well, I thought last week's discussion thingy went very well - it even produced some spiffy art of Three as a vampire (inspired by 'The House That Dripped Blood', I think). So, hurrah for everyone! Please come again all.

Today's prompt/discussion question is:

What notable historical events should be a Doctor/Master story?

If you saw this post a few moments ago, it was a different question. That one will be back later.

You may have noticed my weekly Monday posts have been absent for a while. You may not have noticed. But anyway, they have. The drabble/sketch challenge has had a good innings, but it's just not working well enough any more. So, [livejournal.com profile] x_los and I have decided to overhaul it and turn it into the 'discussion/drabble/sketch challenge'.

Basically the way this works is that we will pose a question that you can a) discuss the answer to and/or b) create some fannish thing (such as fic or art) in response to. It should theoretically still be weekly.

This week's prompt/question is:

'Sharktopus' reads like a Master episode of 'Doctor Who' that the Doctor just didn't bother to show up for. What other programmes/films/etc starring actors who have played the Doctor or the Master do you wish had been a 'Doctor Who' episode? Discuss

We particularly welcome more obscure choices :D

Guys, when you don't pay attention to the tags we're using and make up duplicate tags or frankly dumb stuff like 'who' and 'slash' (...we're a Doctor/Master slash community. We don't need tags for that. That is literally all the content.), I have to go back through and delete what you've done. It's annoying/time-consuming, and I sometimes can't be bothered to replace deleted junk tags with the proper tags. Thus no one can find your content properly. Do yourself a favor and tag sensibly.

Come to chat Sunday night/tomorrow (instructions here) at 8 p.m. B.S.T. (convert to your own time here) to watch SHARKTOPUS!!! Many thanks to the intrepid soul who found and uploaded the file! We'll distribute the streaming link at the event. Sharktopus is a film in which Eric Roberts (aka Roberts!Master from the TV Movie) fuses a shark and an octopus together, and the resulting creature wreaks great havoc. I know, right? It's especially good as that's clearly just shit the Master would pull. Even fobwatched, clearly no one puts Roberts!Master in the corner... unless they want devoured by toothy tentacles or something.

[livejournal.com profile] stalkerbunny and I want to see Claws of Axos. And we want all of you to join us!

We'll have the watchalong on on saturday, 30th June, at 6 pm GMT. Use a time converter to establish when that is for you. As usual, we'll be using the comm's chatroom. Here's a faq if you don't know to access it. I've noticed that tardismedia is moving all it's videos over to another account; it doesn't host Claws of Axos anymore. Does anyone know what the new account is called? I couldn't find the new account, but I did discover some accounts that hosts Claws of Axos. Maybe one of them is the new account.

Here are a few links I found:
matrixarchive on dailymotion
goldtardis on dailymotion(this account hasn't put the videos in a playlist, so you have to browse the account for the next parts)
starwho100 on youtube (these are neither in a playlist)

If you have any questions, just ask me!

I rather like this gif so I'll never stop using it

Without work I have no idea what day of the week it is. I guess now I'm back at work it must be Monday, right?

This week's prompts are:

This is the official WD post, but as a member of the editorial team, it's also a post from me/comes with an appeal from me. Please do apply if you're interested. It's a good and useful thing, and it is genuinely interesting to see what LJ fandom's doing from the ground up/you get the opportunity to publically ridicule The Sun/other papers with top 'news' on the world of Doctor Who.

It's that time again - [livejournal.com profile] who_daily and [livejournal.com profile] torchwood_three are looking for new editors to join our team!

Do you like Doctor Who and/or Torchwood? Do you like getting the latest fannish news before anyone else? Are you easily swayed by persuasively posed questions like these?

If so, [livejournal.com profile] who_daily and [livejournal.com profile] torchwood_three may be for you! If you don't have any previous newslettering experience, this can be a great place to start - we have a streamlined, easy-to-learn process for compiling each edition, and we're quick at answering questions within the group and discussing issues as they arise. At the moment, we're looking for people who'd be happy to play backup and jump in if anyone's unavailable.

If you're interested, please see this post.

If you've done any fannish-type organization before, that's a definite plus! Generally, though, all that's required is reliable internet service, commitment, and a certain level of fannish glee. ;) We have a lot of spots open, so don't hesitate to put your name in.

If you have any questions you can visit the link above, or contact [livejournal.com profile] beathen or [livejournal.com profile] beck_liz and we'll get back to you as quickly as possible.

Application Deadline: This Friday, June 8

Another spontaneous watchalong appeared!

This time we will watch Planet of Fire. Either it will be a glorious episode or a sobfest for all D/M fans. You're all very welcome to join- but at your own risk. I haven't seen it in it's entirety so I can't say how much we will laugh/cry. Or if we'll do both.

We will begin on sunday, June the 3rd, at 8 pm GMT. You can establish when that is in your timezone with a time converter. Here is the episode in question. We'll be using the comm's chatroom, and if you don't know how access it, then read the faq here.

Any questions? If you have none, then all you have to do is obey.

Before we begin, a quick advert break:

[livejournal.com profile] who_daily (the fandom newsletter) is looking for new editors - largely back-up editors i.e. if a regular editor can't do a shift, and you can - you volunteer. I think it's an important fandom thing, and it'd be great if more people volunteered to help out. More info can be found here.

Ok - and back to the drabble/sketch challenge!

This week's prompts are:

The prompt doesn't have to be about 'Caves of Androzani' (though we all know that's full of prime angst material). Could be a H/C trapped in cave, or another exciting trip to Androzani (Xmas special 2011 anyone?). Or it could be about 'Caves of Androzani'. The choice - is yours.

Celebrate the existence of:

Dr. Who!

This spontaneous funtimes challenge ends aprox. when the 28th of May begins, so don't stress about it: just make us a quick prezzie!

I recently read the Doctor Who novel "The Quantum Archangel" by Craig Hinton and I wanted to write a quick little rec for it. I'm a big fan of the Third Doctor and Jo story "The Time Monster" and was excited to see that this was a sequel to that story, only with the Sixth Doctor and Mel instead. For anyone who is a fan of "The Time Monster" this book is well worth reading. The Master and the Doctor having epic battles with Chronovores! The return of Stuart Hyde (the scientist who helped work on TOMTIT)! Lots of Doctor/Master goodness! I really liked how much time Hinton spent on developing the character of the Master, getting inside his head. There are lots of scenes from the Master's perspective and references to his past history with the Doctor. There are also some cute references back to "The Time Monster," including this passage regarding the shape of the device that the Doctor uses to detect the presence of the Master's TARDIS. Good to know we're not the only ones who noticed, lol!

'All set then?' The Doctor stood on the steps of the university holding a bizarre contraption that looked vaguely phallic. Flat, but phallic. The Doctor obviously saw Stuart's gaze.

'Oh this?' He waved the cream-and-silver device in front of him, showing off the extremely retro dials in the...lower area.'This, Professor Hyde, is what Jo called a "TARDIS sniffer-outer". It's a time sensor that can measure temporal disturbances down to six decimal places on the Bocca scale, and was clever enough to allow me to locate TOMTIT thirty years ago.'

Here's some more podfic from the people who brought you Kept Man series 1.

Title: Kept Man: Series 1-3 Shalka Redux (this part - series 2)
Written and read by: [livejournal.com profile] aralias
Characters/Pairings: This part Ten/Shalka!Master, with Rose and Mickey
Rating: R
Word Count: This part 11,000ish
Summary: Summary: In 'Scream of the Shalka', REG!Doctor (the ninth Doctor who almost was) was seen travelling round the universe with a robotic Master for no apparent reason. The ninth Doctor (who actually was) has a much better reason for travelling with a robotic Master given that his entire race are dead. This fic assumes that he was and that the Master just kept out of sight so as not to alarm anyone.
Series 2, from Christmas Invasion (again) to Runaway Bride

Notes: Series 1 of the podfic is here.
Text: Christmas special // Series 2

OK - locations ain't working. How about prompts taken from the names of classic Doctor Who stories? Eh? Eh?

This week's prompts are:

The prompt doesn't have to be about 'Genesis of the Daleks' - it could be sort of Adam and Eve related, or about their relationship beginning, or about, you know, Daleks. But it could also be about Genesis of the Daleks. Remember the time the Master tried to take over the universe with a Giant Clam? Oh, I remember it well...
