Author’s Note: This fic has been gestating for approximately three years. It started life as a detailed plan for the Master surviving while the Doctor is killed when he ends the Time War. It was projected to be about 35,000 words. Three years on I sat down and started writing and it became a one-shot that, in essence, flips them around entirely. I’m not sure I’m entirely happy, particularly with some of the characterisation and structure, but editing has been done and I think I’ve knocked it into some semblance of shape, though it’s unbeta-ed I’m afraid (any takers?). Title is a line from T.S. Eliot’s East Coker (his collection Four Quartets provides a wealth of DW inspiration). Also a fill to

Hey! Normally I don't post my edited anonmeme fills to this comm, because I feel like you've already seen them once and you don't need to be bothered with my tiny edits when I finally repost the fics to my journal. But this one, the editing process was more extensive and the fic in general is a lot longer than my usual, so.

Prompt: What if the Year the Never Was truly never was, and instead the Master focused his attentions on the wreck of the Doctor he's found post-Time War; a Doctor who is very eager to be at his whim so long as he isn't alone. To include coercion, bondage, dirty-talk.
Why read?: Because no one knows the Doctor better than the Master, so he's obviously the best candidate to take the Doctor out of his post- Time War depression. And that he uses sex to bring out 'his' Doctor is even better :) Very very well done! Makes me wish Nine and the Master had met on the show.
