Alis Grave Nil 11/20(ish) - Si Vis Amari Ama

Rating: NC-17.
Set: Post S3, Pre S4, as if VOTD never happened.
Summary: The Doctor is in Rome, the emperor has a familiar face, and something is very, very wrong. In this episode! Ahem,Virgil: Henceforward Dido cared no more for her appearance or her good name, and ceased to take any thought for secrecy in her love. She called it a marriage; she used this word to screen her sin.
Word Count: 5550.
Author's Notes: Alis Grave Nil takes loose (very loose) inspiration from Virgil's Aeneid. Virgil/Augustus OTP, y/y? And, as always, massive apologies for that unplanned hiatus. I've started Uni, and hence have been up all night writing essays on Afghanistan. I'd much rather be doing this! Also a massive thanks to the eternally lovely [livejournal.com profile] evilawyer for spontaneously beta-ing earlier chapters. She is awesome!
Pairing: Ten!Doctor/Caligula-Simm! Master
Disclaimer: Hail to the Beeb!
Chapters I to X

Rumour, swiftest of all pests, had descended upon Rome...
