Rec: Three Separate but Related Stories by bird_fic

Greetings.  Reccing duty falls to me. I shall be reccing fics that are no doubt now considered to be “old”. It is therefore entirely possibly that any given rec will have already been read at least 3 times by every single person on this comm, but there ya go. I gotta stick within my limitations, and short term memory's the first to go. In making my rec selections, I adopted the following unifying theme: “This one still sticks in my head and probably will for ages to come.” Why each selection does will be noted in the “Why this fic must be read” section of each rec post. The reasons why will vary. It may be the hawt D/M sexing. It may be the bitterly vicious and completely hilarious D/M sniping. It may be the beautifully ethereal quality of a single phrase. Whatever it is, I'll let you know.

First up, three fics for the price of one:

Length: Varies by fic, but generally in the low to middling 3000 count.  A little under 10,000 words taken as a whole.

Why these must be read:  I came across these fics long after they were written, and read them immediately one after the other.  They have stuck in my mind as “The Trilogy” (not that The Trilogy”, but a trilogy nonetheless) ever since. The characterization is what strikes me most about these. The author shows the seeds of incredibly messed up Doctor, Master and Doctor/Master in young Theta and Koschei extremely well.
Excerpt: Their bodies became mere conduits, instruments for amplifying sensation, and in a way it hardly seemed to matter (although it did) that Theta had fallen to his knees now, lips around Koschei's cock, swallowing him down while his fingers sought out the come-slickened cleft of his arse and pressed inside. It was a kind of a connection, Koschei thought, while his formidable brain dissolved into a series of very pretty and colorful explosions. He might never have Theta again entirely, but this...this would do.
