Here's another rec! There'll be one more on Friday, partly to appeal to my sense of symmetry, but mostly because I couldn't pare my list down to three.
Title: Interventions
Pairing: Ten/Simm!Master (also Jack/Ianto and mentions of Jack/Doctor and Ianto/Master)
Length: about 50,000
Warnings: none
Author on LJ:
buttercupgaud.
Why this must be read: This is the way to bring back the Master. Make it long, make it plotty, make it make some sort of sense. Where the other stories I've recced so far have been short character studies/vignettes, this reads like an adventure.
Other things about it that are awesome: it doesn't shy away from the Master's nastiness, but it doesn't demonize him either. It gives Jack and Ianto a believable relationship (though that's probably a little OT for this comm). It gives the Doctor and the Master a believable relationship. It even gives the Master and the TARDIS a believable relationship! Amazing.
There are some caveats, however. Minor spelling and grammar errors aren't uncommon, though they aren't that bad. Also, though the author doesn't put any warnings on the chapters, I'd put something for issues of consent with mental contact. It's very well-handled, fairly minor, and I don't fault her for not warning for it. I just have a pretty hair-trigger squick for dubcon and noncon and I figured I'd put that out there.
All in all, though, this story is great.
