Title: Cowboys & Aliens
Series:Doctor Who
Number of fanarts: 3
Rating: All ages I guess?
Pairing: Slight Eight/Master
Characters: Eight, Master. An extra dose of Three and Two
Summary: Doctor Who/Cowboys & Aliens crossover sketches. It sounded sane when I drew them. I mean, imagine Cowboys & Aliens where the Doctor and the Master are dressed up as cowboys. And they're aliens. Can't someone write me fic about this? It's a fabulous idea that needs to be made into a story.

Song: Written in the Stars
Song Artist: Tinie Tempah
Characters/Pairings: The Master. (Delgado, Ainley, Roberts, Goosnake, Jacobi[Yana, not Shalka-verse], Simm.) It's Doctor/Master in that it's about the Master, and therefore involves the Doctor. And the Master. Interacting. As they do. If that isn't enough, let me know and I'll remove this post with a few groveling apologies.

I've created a Time War Era Eight/Jacobi!Master wallpaper inspired by When the War Came from The Crane Wife by The Decemberists. Fun Fact: It was actually the reference to Asteraceae (aka daisies) rather than the title that made me associate it with Doctor/Master.

The wallpaper and song are both available under the cut... )

I'm posting a link to 'Master At Arms' by Hokuto, with the author's permission. I stumbled across it quite serendipitously just a couple of hours ago, and for all that it's absolutely amazing, I was shocked to see no comments whatsoever, though it's been around on AO3 for a couple of months or more.

This is, I suppose, a rec, but I just want it to circulate more, and I imagine that while some of you may have come across it, many more haven't. It's the story of the Time War and the Master's place in it, a brilliant character study and a truly terrifying look at just what the Time War might mean, both to the Universe at large and the people fighting in it. It doesn't ignore the horrors, or pretty things up.

Although it's gen, the mentions of the Doctor are written in such a way that it is, for me, very easy to read a relationship into it, whether that was the author's intention or not. Oh, and there's Susan! And SIDRATs!

I just discovered that the author is also on lj as [livejournal.com profile] brief_transit ! Anywho, here's the link at AO3: archiveofourown.org/works/85429

And here it is at the author's lj:  http://brief-transit.livejournal.com/72602.html

No rating given, but there's certainly violence and darkness and, you know, depictions of war, so I'd say around PG-13. Anyway, go! Read it!

Title: From These Mad Heights
Author: [livejournal.com profile] british_demon
Word Count: 1,464
Pairing: Eight/Jacobi!Master
Rating: G/PG/K/K+
Warning: none
Summary:  Just a vignette in the Time War between Eight and Jacobi!Master, their first meeting after his resurrection. I don't know how far into the Time War this would be, but pretty early. Maybe it's before war was declared, or it's the last shore leave the Doctor gets before... well, before things get worse. Whichever you prefer.
A/N:
Demon was in a Paul McGann mood. Then played this song. And suddenly everything just clicked.

I seem to remember saying to [livejournal.com profile] roachpatrol once that someone needed to draw the Doctor squashing the Master's face. In a nice way. Not in a Crispy's-head-in-a-vice way.
Well, you know what's better than drawings? Animations.

My crazy beast of a fic is finally done enough to start posting! I'll be putting up one chapter a week, probably every Sunday. I even have a cool cover image for it and everything, I am so fancy.

Title: Ghosts Can't Feel
Author:  [info]british_demon
Word Count: 3144
Pairing: Eight/Roberts!Master (ghostie version)
Rating: R/NC-17/M
Warnings: adult content/explicit sex
Beta thanks: [livejournal.com profile] tula_peiwa For in part inspiring me and then pushing me to finish it c: I love you babe, with all my heart(s).
Summary: There's a ghost in the Doctor's TARDIS... late at night... I wonder who it could be?
A/N:
When this started it was MEANT to be cracky and silly and I was SO ashamed to be writing ROBERTS!Master, but... as sometimes happens, the story evolved and suddenly it wasn't so cracky anymore, but instead pretty angsty and even downright SAD. Anyway, I finished it for my birthday a month ago and... I'm actually really, REALLY proud of it. I hope everyone likes it. I know there isn't a lot of Roberts!Master love in the world, but... give him a chance, he's not all bad...

Light up, light up... as if you have a choice... even if you cannot hear my voice... I'll be right beside you, dear. )

[livejournal.com profile] zaftiq , [livejournal.com profile] tardiscrash and I once decided (through some mysterious alchemy) that Eight and Roberts!Master definitely hung out in the galaxy's tidiest opium den at some point. Possibly in an alternate universe. And then Five and Ainley!Master were there, just because.

So. I am by no means an expert on anything whatsoever, but I recently indulged in this bit of fansquee that got away from me rather, and which I thought might be useful for new or newish D/M slashers, particularly those thinking about making the jump from New Who to Old Who. I'd like to think it might even be a little bit entertaining for those who've been around far longer than I have. So I figured I might as well post it here?

Doctor Who

A by-a-beginner-for-beginners-guide

being an entirely biased, completely incomplete, rough, opinionated, subject-to-editing, heavily Master-slanted, highly illustrated, unbetaed, not-at-all comprehensive look at the first 45 years of the Doctor's on-screen existence, with a heavy dose of Doctor/Master 'ship manifesto thrown in for the lulz, and a series of rec lists thrown in for the because-I-could

FOR THE EDIFICATION OF THE WHOISHLY UNINFORMED, THE HORIZON-BROADENING OF THE WHOISHLY INITIATED, AND THE POINT-AND-LAUGH ENJOYMENT OF THE WHOISH EXPERT

Advice, additions, subtractions, suggestions, squee, constructive criticism, and general fannishness eagerly solicited

Just a reminder--The Company of Friends listenalong in the chatroom at 6:30 B.S.T. today, TWO hours from the time of this post!

Please use this Discussion Post for non-chat comments! This is the last audio of our Eightabration, and our final listenalong in this series. I hope these listenalongs have inspired any of you to rock out more Eight-related fic and art. His audio characterization is so joyous and good, and I'd love to see more audio!Eight fic around!

6:30 BST tonight! (approximately two hours from now) we are doing another listenalong, this time to Eight's (apparently) inesteemable The Girl Who Never Was. Why apparently, you ask. Are you subtly hating on Eight, you murmur. What kind of mod are you, you demand. And in reverse order: Not a very good one, no and also if you believe that's subtle then we must sit down and have a chat, and apparently because I have, in fact, never heard said audio although I hear tell it's very good. Which only goes to show that young and old have lots to learn from the listenalongs, so. Please come along to chat or make your feelings known here in the discussion post. I am sure it will be most English and velvet-clad. As all good Eights are.
