Last rec from me! Hopefully the next thing you'll get from me will be my (almost not quite late) audio challenge entry.
Title: A Shift in Reality
Length: about 5,500, in two parts
Warnings: character death
Author on LJ:
kesomon. Teaspoon is here.
Why this must be read: Okay, so this is basically gen. But so much of this story is about the relationship between the Doctor and the Master, and where they end up when one of them loses the other. I can't really talk more specifically without spoiling the story, so I'm just going to say that this is also beautifully written and leave it at that.
The story's also fascinating from a timing point of view- it's set after Human Nature, but the first part was put out before the episode aired. It was written based on the knowledge that the episode was coming, and on the book by Paul Cornell that was adapted for the episode. So it's a Master story in Ten-era, written before the Master came back. Then the second part was written after the S3 finale, and contains several nods to the events. Got that? Confusing, I know, but it all works out well.
