Title: Silencing the Drums
Pairing: Eleven/Simm!Master
Length: Work in progress.
Rating: NC-17 overall
Warnings: None that I think are necessary at this point.
Author on Livejournal, Teaspoon or Prydonian: Silencingthedrums on The Prydonian.
Why this must be read: I did say that I was going to recommend old fics. I lied. Every once in a while I cruise by The Prydonian to see if anyone has posted something new. Someone has and this is it. I don't, as a rule, read WIPs but this is an Eleven/Master one and I couldn't resist. While I don't agree with the author's take on the Doctor/Master relationship and dynamic overall (the author approaches both, to my mind, with the mindset of someone who was thoroughly indoctrinated --- or is intentionally writing like he/she was --- into RTD's view of the pairing, it may not be noticeable to anyone but me. Besides ---- the author has a plot! An honest-to-goodness plot that actually brings back the Master in a way that's explained and that promises to make sense throughout (an ability I envy, I must confess). I'd have liked Eleven to get his own Master, but this story is doing just so far fine even without. And I love the American Indian feel to it. (A round of dreamcatchers for everyone!)
Excerpt: Not going to give one for a work in progress. It wouldn't be fair to the author.
