For the next few weeks, prompts will be based around OTHER SERIES THAT RUSSELL T DAVIES OR STEVEN MOFFATT HAVE WRITTEN (an inspired/original prompt idea). Most of these series are strongly recommended by this mod, at least. (the RTD!Casanova is one of my favourite TV things ever. Watch it, watch it, watch it).

Please take the title however you wish (either as a crossover, or in this case as the historical personage, or the idea of a serial romancer, or sex-alcoholic, or compulsive gambler, or a frame narrative -weak, but I'd accept it - or whatever)

This week's prompts are:

Casanova

and/or

Venice

Title: The Gallifreyan Patient
Pairing: Ten/(Simm) Master, Ten/author created Master
Length: Chapters: 16, Words: 27,363
Summary: AU after "Last of the Time Lords." The Doctor took the Master on board the TARDIS after the Year That Never Was hoping to help him, but they couldn't have anticipated old feelings getting in the way.
Rating/Warnings: R, depression, self-harm, suicide (not Doctor or Master), swearing
Author: Rebekah Reynolds (fanfiction.net)
Why this must be read: I love how the Master is the star of this story. Although the story is about the Doctor and Master's growing romantic relationship, it is just as focused on the Master's personal story: his depression, internal struggles, and journey towards self-understanding, forgiveness, and not being evil anymore. The story really gets inside the Master's head, treating the drums as a mental illness and showing the different ways that he attempts to deal with them.I love the idea of the Master using art therapy! One of the most touching and realistic "Master turns good" fics that I've ever read.
Excerpt: "Picking up a brush he painted out his frustration and hurt until he was too tired to carry on then stood back to admire his work: if he had to assign his art a style it would certainly be impressionist, but much more like Picasso than Van Gogh, the subject of his painting was recognisably the doctor but his features were a jumbled mess of all the faces and bodies the master had known him as. The hair and clothes were the same as they were now but the eyes of the man in his painting were the eyes the master had known when they were young, they were eyes which would never dismiss him like the doctor had done earlier, that doctor had not been betrayed by his best friend yet and had not grown to hate him."
