[Poll #1454846][Poll #1454846]I have always been curious so please eradicate my curiosity with this poll. I will also be interested to know who is your favourite Doctor or Master.

Classic Who tells us that the Master runs through all his regenerations;  New Who tells us that the Time Lords resurrected him from the Matrix.  In "The Brain of Morbius", Morbius sends Four back through something like five or six regenerations that are before the One we know during their mind wrestling slap-down match.  Which would mean that Four or maybe Five should have been the Doctor's last regeneration.

Does anyone know of any explanation, whether from classic or new TV series or any other media,  for the fact that the Doctor seems to be past his sell-by date?  (It's for a fic that may never see the light of day, but now I'm curious).

Months ago I read a wonderful essay on some Doctor/Master community. I had it bookmarked then my hard drive crashed and I lost all my bookmarks.

The essay interpreted the Doctor/Master relationship through Edmund Burke's dichotomy of the sublime and the beautiful. It's basic thesis was that their relationship is so epic that it transcends anything beautiful or romantic and enters the universe shattering arena of the sublime.

The reason I want to find this essay is that I was having a discussion with a professor who teaches courses about cyberculture in the English department and she mentioned she had a couple students who wrote essays about fanfiction and slashfiction and they used Doctor Who as a case study. We're supposed to talk again some time and I was trying to remember where I read some of this interesting philosophical stuff.

Thanks.

The sixth Doctor loved cats. And cats loved him. In Survival the Master becomes catlike. So, the big question is, where are tonns and tonns of Six/Cheetah!Master NC-17 fics?

My friend [livejournal.com profile] shinodabear  and a short fic I'm slowly working on got me tripping down the "what-if" path.  In an uncharacteristic fit of optimism, I'm going to believe with the faith of a convent full of nuns that Mr. Moffat will be giving us more Doctor/Master.  So, I'm wondering...

What if Mr. Moffat is, as I suspect he might be, an adherent to the Cartmel Master Plan and, even if he doesn't go with that Plan full bore in his run as DW producer (that's what his title's going to be, right?), where will that be leading Doctor/Master? Somewhere darker (and by that I don't just mean kinkier and more sadistic sex, although it could certainly mean that, too)?  Somewhere where they become more polarized?  Thoughts? Opinions?

There are Who audio books that explain the origins of the hatred between the Doctor and Master, but it's never addressed in the TV series.  I must confess I haven't and probably never will get around to listening to audios.  Besides, imaginations run wild sometimes so I was wondering ---- What do you all (in your personal canons or fanons or whatever it's called) see as the reason behind/for the hate?

Here again for input re: a possible ficlet .  John Simm's haircolor (as the Master, that is ---- whatever else he does to his hair at any other time is his own business and I do not care about it) defies description for me.  It's like the color shifts around depending on lighting, clothing color (who knew black versus white could make such a difference on this point), the way it's been brushed, etc. Dark blond?  Ash blond?  Light brown?  Any thoughts?  I don't want to call it something it isn't but since I can't figure out what it is I no doubt will.  Not the end of the world, of course, but I thought I'd ask for other opinions and use the most popular one.  Thanks in advance for the help.

Also, I had wanted to thank [livejournal.com profile] selenak  for her earlier help on whether the Master was really an exile or just a renegade.  As it turns out, it wasn't made clear in the Five Doctors after all, so I whiffled on it in the story it came up in.  Gave me a good excuse to watch the Five Doctors again, though --- including the Peter Davison-Terrence Dicks commentary (and all of Mr. Dicks' funny, funny comments about the "bloody Cyberman" being everywhere).  So thanks!

Just wondering, as I have been since I thought about it last night, if anyone out there knows of any Shalka!Doctor/Ten fics out there.  I shouldn't have let it happen, but I got distracted thinking about David Tennant and Richard E. Grant in Posh Nosh, practicing their "tennis" strokes, and now I can't get Alt!Nine/Ten slash out of my brain.  Help me, please.  I really have to get some work done and not spend time doing searches for the pairing.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Because I know you all know.

Was the Master really "exiled" from Gallifrey?  I remember Peri saying he was, but I don't necessarily trust that.  Did the Master or the Doctor ever say he was an exile, too?

I have a question and thought I'd ask here. "Darkfic". What does this term encompass?

Thank you.

Does anybody know anything about this site called timelord-diary.ucoz or something like that?  I just got told that some of my stuff, as well as [livejournal.com profile] gritsinmisery  and [livejournal.com profile] shinodabear  fics,  have been posted there. In Russian.  That's never happened to me before, as far as I know, and I get a little hinky when I hear that stuff I tag a copyright violation disclaimer on so that the BBC leaves me alone is translated into a totally different language used in a country where they don't even enforce copyright laws, for all I know.

Yes, in addition to my OCD (which isn't all that strong, let me tell you), I am a bit paranoid.

I'm trying to write something, but I'm allowing myself to get distracted (what else is new?) by all the rings the renegades wear.  I've posted a question asking for people's theories on the meaning of the rings here.  Your input will be appreciated, if only so that I can stop thinking about this question.

a VHS tape of Logopolis?  More re: having it for your very own is at this post (wherein I make sure it's clear we aren't violating copyright laws and where I prattle on and on about other stuff --- the tape info is in the first two paragraphs).

Okay, help!  Very recently, somebody posted something -- a picspam, I think -- and in the comments I squee'd something along the lines of "Thank you, thank you, thank you.  I've been looking for an ep with smelling salts in it / You've just shown me something I can use for a fic for a prompt I haven't been able to work with."

Who was it, and what episode was it?

You know what we really require as a com?

...yes, to finish a layout, I know, but also! A Classic (or Classic AND new) Doctor/Master or maybe even just a Classic (again, or Classic AND new) Master mood theme set. For too long have I avoided having a mood because I feared our ugly smilies, and knew not what to replace them with!

Does anyone know of such a thing, or have the ability to cook one up? Is doing that a crapton of work? (I can never tell how much work anything would be, not having the graphics editing capability of a dead squirrel.)

EDIT: I'd be *delighted* to use a preexisting! Come out of the woodwork, people with applicable good mood themes!

I'm trying to finish a fic but need to do some watching...er, research.  Can anyone tell me if Five ever actually touched the Master during any particular show?  I asked this over here (I actually meant to ask it here, but there you go --- too early, insufficient caffeine will do that to you);  if you can click on the link and answer over there that would be helpful (or here if you prefer --- I just didn't want to clutter things up on the comm).  Thanks, and have a wonderful day!

I run a couple of Doctor Who communities on Insanejournal, including one for the Tenth Doctor and another for the Master.

Anyhow, I was curious to know if anyone here would be interested in a Master/Doctor community over there and if so, if the mods of this community would be interested in affiliating.

I believe in spreading the love. ;)
