The end of the anonmemeabration is nearing, so I'm going to rec this fic that was prompted at the anonmeme. Also because it is brilliant. Also - this isn't my last rec quite yet! Last time I recced I managed to get a lot of different medias in there. This time... not so much. So I'm going to try and get together some fanart recs for tomorrow, bear with me.

The Sweet Cheat Gone

Pairing: combinations of Three, Delgado!Master, Five, and Ainley!Master
Length: 7,222
Summary: The third Doctor is surprised and upset to see the Master with another man. Perhaps the worst part about it is that he doesn't understand what the Master could possibly see in someone who goes around wearing celery like it's a sartorial statement...
Warnings: None.
Author on LJ (or Teaspoon, or Prydonian): [livejournal.com profile] x_losfic
Why this must be read: Sometimes you want crack. Sometimes you want serious fic. And sometime you want fic that takes a cracky idea and looks at it seriously, working out the ways it would actually impact the characters. (Okay, actually, I want that kind of fic all the time.) There are a lot of cool details and awesome touches of writing here, but most of all I like the ideas here.

Title: The Deathless
Author: stellar_dust
Pairings/Characters: Jack, Delgado, Five, pairings=variations on those with a slash between them
Warnings: Character death - sort of
Length 3445
Author's summary: It's 1895, and Jack meets someone who just might have the answers he's been seeking.
Why this must be read: the first line is "The summer of 1895, Jack's main (in point of fact, only) competition on the unkillables circuit went by the imposing name of Koshey the Deathless", which is, I would argue, a fantastic first line that demands you read onwards, surely. An excellent and vivid setting (borrowed from a not very good episode of Torchwood) that works very well as the stage for a meeting between a man who can't die and a man who wants to live forever: both of whom are searching in vain for the Doctor. Obviously, the subject of death is dealt with and well, but there are still light touches and the fic isn't free of hope, because we know how this scenario ends for both the Master and Jack. I'm not entirely certain why the Master does what he does at the end, but I think that's all right, because we're in Jack's POV and he doesn't quite understand - though he understands enough, and it's not annoyingly unresolved, merely thought provoking. I'd welcome personal theories about it.

I'll try to wrap this up before I disappear the middle of next week. No promises.

Title: A Home 3 / 4
Fandom: Doctor Who

Characters: Koschei-Master / Theta Sigma-One, AU Delgado-Master / AU Five, Ten, Donna, Rani, Drax
Rating: PG
Word Count: 3260 this chapter
Warnings: Implied slash but no sex.  Some injuries this chapter.
Boilerplate: All things Doctor Who belong to Auntie Beeb and Uncle Rusty. I'm just playing with them.
Notes: The idea that Time Lord dreams are not like human dreams is gratefully lifted from[personal profile] omphalos ' New Dawn Fades, which every fan should read.  This takes place on Gallifrey and in the TARDIS, in the past and in the present. Inspired by the song of the same name by Maya and Randy Sharpe. "Dagr" is the Norse personification of Day, the son of Daybreak and Night. "Zorya Polunochnaya" is Russian for the Midnight Star. The third part's only half-written at the moment, so don't think you're getting it as quickly as you got this one.
