Summary: This is a historical AU, in which the Doctor visits ancient Rome to find the Emperor Caligula wearing a familiar face. Virgil's going to explain this episode: Primaeval Earth and Juno, Mistress of the Marriage, gave their sign. The sky connived at the union; the lightning flared; on their mountain-peaks nymphs raised their cry. On that day were sown the seeds of suffering and death.
Word Count: 5000-ish.
Author's Notes: Alis Grave Nil draws very loose inspiration from Virgil's Aeneid, which is rather obvious in this chapter!
