Summary: John Simm hates actors; David Tennant is a mercurial freak. Everyone else has commentary.
Why this must be read: Another one I feel a little embarrassed to like so much. Another very awkward, very funny one. I like how it equates Tennant with the Doctor and sort of distances Simm from the Master, while at the same time being clear that the Master is a definite part of him. It's got some cracking dialogue. Actually, I just looked at the comment I left last year, and it seems to still sum up what I think: I love the dramatised lives of actors (in general. Actors and writers are very much my favourite kinds of people to read about)(except Time Lords obviously), and the awkward wrap party with the beer and Barrowman sort of lurking in the background is excellent - very funny, very engaging, slightly sleazy and still glamourous. Very interesting, believable characterisation for all.

Extract: But the worst is David. To be frank, John's a little bit terrified of him. And sort of mesmerized too, because he really is just like the Doctor off camera. Just like. And it's not him staying in character between takes. It's not. The tone shifts, the posture ratchets down. But mercurial and greedy and ill-advised? Optimistic about entirely inappropriate things while possessing a fundamentally disturbing sense of adventure? The need to lick things like he's some sort of toddler on E? Yeah. Exactly like the fucking Doctor. But worse.
