Gallifreyan Drop-Outs

I've been watching The Invasion of Time. Yes, I know it's not a Doctor/Master episode, but ... well, anyway. Lots of lovely background on the Time Lords and their political machinations. Last night I reached the point where Leela escapes the Time Lord's citadel, and finds herself amongst the Time Lord "drop outs" who have gone back to nature - a bit like Earth hippies, but with less drugs and more hunting with spears and bows and arrows. *G* I found myself wondering what would have happened if the Doctor and the Master had decided to go this rebellious route, rather than the way they did.

(Or maybe young Theta and Koschei did try it for a while, and that's why they broke up? "This is the most stupid idea you've ever had, Koschei! I'm sick of being cold and wet and hungry - I'm going back to the Citadel where at least I can get a meal which isn't burnt lentils!")
