Title: Why Umbrella Stands in Zeppelin Hangers are Useful
Characters: Shalka!Boys, Alison Cheney
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Not mine, seriously.
Author's Notes: So there is this great meme going on here on b_e in which the Master fights monsters for the Doctor. And there is this amazing Shalka pic by [livejournal.com profile] neveralarch , which just kicked my mind in the right place and made me write a short fanfic. So here you have it. Enjoy!

Summary: The Master fends off the monster of the week inside the TARDIS and expects some gratitude from the Doctor, who is a bit slow in figuring out what is expected of him and not all too pleased about it all. Alison simply knows when to leave those two alone.

Why Umbrella Stands in Zeppelin Hangers are Useful

“And that, my dear, is why I leave the umbrella stand in the Zeppelin hanger,” the Master said smoothly as he looked from their fallen enemy into the Doctor's eyes.

The Doctor, still lying on the floor (where he had ended up after an unsuccessful attempt at an attack), blinked up at him in surprise, but accepted the hand held out to him - not gracefully though. Alison meanwhile had come out from her hiding place behind the Master and rounded the fallen monstrosity.

“He really fought that...thing, for you. With an umbrella stand,” she commented, eyeing the alien.

“Yes, I noticed that,” the Doctor said irritated, partly because the Master was still holding his hand and stroking it. Alison looked at him, not saying anything. “What?” he snapped and was even more annoyed at the short look his two companions shared in something close to exasperation.

“I am going to rest for about four hours, so don't mind me.”

Before the Doctor could say anything, she had already exited the room and he was left alone with the Master, who had now stepped closer, rested a hand on the Doctor's chest and had a rather suggestive glint in his eyes.

“Now my dear,” he purred, “as Miss Cheney so aptly pointed out, I just fought a monster for you.”

The Doctor groaned in despair and shrugged the Master off. “Yes you did and look what a mess you made of the Zeppelin hanger!” The Doctor pointed accusingly at the various fluids the death of the intruder had left all over the floor.

The Master looked unimpressed at his attempt to wriggle out of the obvious conclusion to it all.

The Doctor huffed. “Fine!” he cried. “But before you ravish me over the console, at least clean this up!” Despite the complaining tone of his voice, he was already taking off his coat as he stormed out of the Zeppelin hanger.
