The Master and the Doctor's companions

This was inspired by the "I forgive you" discussion which went into some interesting angles and has inspired this question.

I am not as familiar with classic Who as I'd like to be, and I'm still in the catching up process (in short, have yet to see every damned episode). Can some experts line up some examples of all of the ways in which the Master has tried to mess with the Doctor's companions and how?

We all know that he tried to kill Martha--anyone who's seen the New Who knows about that. But I hear stories of Nyssa, and I watched a few episodes of classic!Master with his first appearance in "Terror of the Autons", and Ainley!Master in "Mark of the Rani". So I'm curious to hear of people's knowledge of that AND their take on it.
