Title: Cowboys & Aliens
Series:Doctor Who
Number of fanarts: 3
Rating: All ages I guess?
Pairing: Slight Eight/Master
Characters: Eight, Master. An extra dose of Three and Two
Summary: Doctor Who/Cowboys & Aliens crossover sketches. It sounded sane when I drew them. I mean, imagine Cowboys & Aliens where the Doctor and the Master are dressed up as cowboys. And they're aliens. Can't someone write me fic about this? It's a fabulous idea that needs to be made into a story.

Hello fandom. Wrote more of this. If only I had been quicker I could have posted it as part of that popular Roberts!Master challenge...

Wordcount: This chapter 11,500
Rating: NC-17
Characters: AU versions of Eight/Roberts!Master, some other familiar names and faces that do not necessarily go together
Summary: Sequel to 'The Sleepwalker'/the Buffy 'Normal Again' prompt fic from B_E I wrote a while ago.
In which John is in England and Sam isn't.

The Sleepwalker

Meanwhile:
Chapter 1
Chapter 2

Chapter 3: Long Distance Relationship <-- this is the new one

Hi all,

Here, have a little Eight/Roberts! drabble that ran too long to be a drabble.

Title: Co-morbid
Author: Jo Masters
Rating: NC-17 for explicit sex (most of which looks like masturbation)
Pairing: Eight/Roberts!Master
Trigger warnings: None (unless you find the idea of possession upsetting)
Summary: The Master is now a rather permanent fixture on Eight’s TARDIS, but not in the way the Doctor thought he would be. Or: How the movie should have ended.

Link goes to my Ehl-Jay.

Of sentimental TARDISes and, er, wandering hands.

Title: You Don't Love Me Anymore
Video by: Tulapeiwa
Pairing: all D/M pairings
Length: 3:58
Rating: G
Why this must be watched: This is the very best kind of crack. Hilariously clever way of blending the song's lyrics and the clips. Who knew Weird Al and Doctor Who would go so well together, lol. Brilliant video! I laughed so hard.

Title: If I Had You
Video by: woolyjumpersandjam
Pairing: Eight/(Roberts) Master
Length: 3:55
Summary: The Eighth Doctor and the Master being silly and in love.
Rating/Warnings: G, crack
Why this must be watched: Hilariously delightful crack video starring the most ridiculous Doctor/Master pairing of them all. Very well-edited, good use of the song (If I Had You by Adam Lambert), and just a whole lot of fun.

Title: Doctor Who - The TV Movie (Spoof)
Pairing: 8th Doctor/(Roberts) Master
Length: 10:18
Summary: The TV Movie in ten minutes performed with just two people.
Rating/Warnings: PG, spoilers for the movie
Author: Written by and starring Matthew Beale.
Why this must be watched: It's funny! One guy plays every role except for Grace in this very cute spoof that emphasizes all the ridiculous aspects of the movie. I also like the added scene of the Seventh Doctor in the void of past doctors after his death, very cute.

Yes, yes, I realise they are HUGE, but they need to go together. And in this order.

The particulars... )

**insert my stompy dinosaur feet on belatedly discovering that this vid is already somewhere on this comm and thus I can't be the cool person that introduces it**
However, it hasn't been recced yet, so I may as well rec it for the new people who might not have seen it, because it's that awesome.

Title: Cold Crush
Pairing(s): Damn near all of them
Length: 1:08
Description: a multi-era D/M vid set to Limp Bizkit’s “All That Easy”
Warnings/Rating: None; G
Vidder: OsaNona22 on Youtube, though s/he goes by something else here on LJ (which I can’t remember)

Why this must be watched:

It is like watching an entire minute of visual-audio art. This vid provokes so much backstory and angst and yearning and longing in just one minute, and it doesn’t feel the least bit overdone in any way nor do you end up feeling like you got cut off too short at the end. Phenomenal editing. And it has War Chief!Master in it! That almost never happens! My favourite part, though, is the amazing inclusion and juxtaposition of sad!Nine with sad!Yana!Master. Brilliant. Overall, a beautiful collage of the Doctor/Master dynamic set to a very well-chosen song.

Excerpt: I wish, I wish—I wish it was all that easy.

Video below the cut! )

Good Day, Ladies, Gentlemen, and those of the 26 genders of Metabelix 9. My name is RF93, and I am to be your latest Reccer.

I would like to speak to you briefly on the subject of Doctor/Master Fanvids.

Now I'm sure many or most of you will have seen the worst this category has to offer, shoddily constructed affairs set to pop or rock songs, looping the same three scenes from 'Last of the Time Lords' a half a dozen times.

While these can be entertaining, I understand that the fine members of B_E are a certain level of connoisseur, and expect nothing but the best for their viewing pleasure.

To that effect, I wish to introduce, or rather remind my readers that while we are fortunate enough to have extraordinary authors and remarkable artists, Doctor/Master fandom is host to several excellent fanvids of both old and new D/M varieties.

As with most fanfiction of this pairing, two basic genres of vid exist. For the purposes of this review, I have chosen one of each category.

The Epic: Space Dementia by nastally
Pairing: All Doctor/Master, emphasis on New Who.
Why It Should Be Watched: The creator describes this as her Magnum Opus, and it truly is. The editing is beautiful, with some of the best timing and cuts I have ever seen, set to slightly haunting music. While not a fast paced video, it does not give the feeling of slowing or growing repetetive throughout its six minute run, the artist using every era and (my favorite gimmick), well incorporated quotes from the show to paint one of the best psychological and historical profiles of this pairing.
Warnings: Leaves that wonderfully slightly sad and disturbed feeling in the pit of your stomach that only the best fics and artwork do.

The Crack: Drop Dead Gorgeous by GeckoGoose
Pairing: All Doctor/Masters up to 'LotTL'
Why It Should Be Watched: In the way that only sometime crack!fic and vids can do, this is a perfect representation of Doctor/Master, (to say nothing of Doctor/Master Fandom) through the years. With every canonized version of both our Best Enemies, quick and playful editing and above all, perhaps the catchiest song with remarkably relevant lyrics since ABBA's Mamma Mia. While highly under appreciated at only 1200 views, this is perhaps one of the best in D/M Crack!vids.
Warnings: No, seriously. This song will stick in your head whether you love it or hate it.

The other day I sat down and watched all of the Pepe le Pew cartoons. I came to the conclusion that the Master makes a lot more sense if you think of him as an evil version of our favorite skunk. Behold, the crack-spawn of my brain.

Here's how it goes: I take dialogue from Pepe le Pew cartoons, then add them to appropriate Doctor/Master images. It all adds up to sweet, glorious crack. I pray that the "cut" feature works for this.

Everyone should have a hobby )

Art rec today.

I would like to send everyone over to sparklingblue's Deviantart
they have done a tone of clever little Doctor/Master comics, many of them classic favoured which is lovely.

here are a few of my favourites )
Please do go and give them lots of nice comments because comics are quite time consuming to do and (I think) these are wonderful.

It's been awhile since I've had the time or harddrive space to do any fanvidding, but I found this one irresistible.

Spoilers for Portal Two, if you haven't played it*

Hello all. It's quite late, but I believe I have written some fanfic. It's a prequel/spin-off/AU thing to/of/thing my fic "The Sleepwalker", which you don't need to have read to read this, but which might explain why the Master's calling himself "Sam Jones" now.

Title: Meanwhile, In Another Universe (1/?)
Wordcount: 7000
Rating: NC-17
Characters: AU versions of Eight/Roberts!Master, Benny
Summary: In which Sam Jones meets John Smith for the first time, and decides that he is both the biggest dick in the room and the most wonderful man in the world.

Chapter one is here

If it hadn't been rec'd already, I would also be recommending the excellent and highly narrative Cold Comfort for Change , by [livejournal.com profile] birdsarecalling ("In a universe where the Master works for the Celestial Intervention Agency, the Doctor inevitably finds himself on the wrong side of the law."). As it has been, I'll content myself with one final rec instead of two.

Title: Any Time At All
Pairing: Eight/Roberts!Master
Length: 4325
Author's Summary: "It hadn't been a brilliant plan, or a complicated plan, or even a particularly devious plan. The Master had just retrieved the Doctor's bag of miscellanea from the stupid Asian child who had stolen it, looked inside, and found a smaller bag, all white and crumpled and full of little candies."
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] roachpatrol
Why this must be read:

This is a sort of redemption story, I suppose, but it's funny and strikingly poignant rather than schmaltzy. It's weirdly convincing because it's worked out, carrying us from initial resistance, through negotiation and then to an excellent resolution. Even incapacitated, this Eight still manages to be well characterized. He's really weak in this because of the amnesia issues, yet incredibly strong, because he manages to be so effective and manipulative even in that state*. "In that instant he is perfectly himself, old and wise and silly and kind." Lovely.

Excerpt:

"Who am I?" the Doctor asks him.

"You're the Doctor." The Master strips a pair of wires with unnecessary force. "You're also a pain in the ass."

"Who are you?" the Doctor asks him, unperturbed.

"I'm the Master. I'm your Master."

"Are we married?" the Doctor asks him.

"Holy shit, what?" the Master, who really needs to get a handle on this American thing, says. "I'm your fucking arch-nemisis. Why would you even ask that?"

"You seem to spend a lot of time handcuffing me to things," the Doctor says, "and I didn't think you were my parole officer."

*If you've read the fic, there's an interesting debate to be had on this point, specifically the timing of the Spoilery Ending Revelation.
